Ergo fixture for supporting sliding van doors through the robotic painting line.
Details:
Applied Kinetics developed this paint fixture design in conjunction with our client. It supports the sliding van doors while the car body is processed through the paint line. The fixture is manually installed, and can be re-positioned to hold the door in three positions.
Numerous special design features were incorporated, including anti-drip features and positive locks for install and positioning. It was designed to tolerate multi-paint layers, so that it only needed to be cleaned after many paint applications.

The fixture was developed using three dimensional CAD data and a physical body-in-white sample. Finite Element Analysis and weld strength calculations were used to ensure durability and safety.
